Is discrimination the mistreatment of the "victim"?

I am posting it for find out what is the reaction of the persons to my understanded definition of "driscrimination".|||"Discrimination" simply means differentiating one thing from another, e.g. apples from oranges. So it's not a bad thing in itself.

The discrimination people tend to get upset about is discrimination between people based on prejudice.

For example, when hiring for a job that requires a particular skill, it would be perfectly OK to discriminate against people who don't have that skill. However, it would not be OK to discriminate against black people, just because you don't like black people.|||No. Discrimination, by definition, is where a person or group of people is treated differently for some characteristic or shared characteristic. Not all discrimination is bad. For instance, if a business only hires people who can read, they have discriminated against the illiterate. However, this isn't a bad thing.|||A person or group can be discriminatory in many ways. It is not necessarily but can be geared towards an individual or group amongst other things. For instance.. To make a difference or distinction; to distinguish accurately; as, in judging of evidence, we should be careful to discriminate between probability and slight presumption.

Another example would be you had 2 pop sickles and 2 friends with you. One is your best friend the other is just a school friend. You could give them each one and do with out yourself or you could keep one and give one to your best friend because you like him better than your school friend. To treat a person unequally in the same situation is considered discrimination.

Another good example is equal work for equal pay. On the job today before any work can start all of the workers will carry block for 8 hours. Even the skilled block layers because their is a deadline to meet. Normally the skilled block layer doesn't labor on a union job but as a skilled craftsman he is listed at a higher rate of pay than a laborer. So he makes more money for carrying the block than the laborers do.

Another example would be to impose unequal tariffs for substantially the same service. Say the guy that owns the local taxi company is black and doesn't particularly care for white folks. So he instructs all of his cab drivers to charge whites 10 % more than other people to ride in his taxi.

Lets say that he he also refuses to hire any white taxi drivers even though some whom have applied are as qualified or more qualified than other current applicants. This of course would be job discrimination.

I think that just about covers my view on discrimination.|||Any complex of ideas making a class of persons seem less valuable

often actually pre-dates the planned mis-treatment.
