Mistreatment of farm animals in other countries?

I recently discovered the mistreatment of farm animals in the States and i am considering becoming a vegetarian. However, i just want to know if they do the same to animals in other countries like Japan or Australia, cause most of my meat comes from there. however what is cruel is debatable , PETA launched against museling for wool sheep ,so i has now stopped, i have seen fly blown sheep if museling works then they should do it, i don't think the sheep are any better off|||"Discovered"?
